Life World

What is a "life world"?

Lifeworld, (Lebenswelt), is the world of lived experience. Edmund Husserl coined the term and Max van Manen popularized it. Lifeworld is the "world of immediate experience". A student will be more likely to relate to a mask he has seen in his life and THEN he might be interested in considering the life world of “other”, for example the Cajun making tradition in Mamou or the carnival masks from Mexico.
